I am looking at a used 2008 TL. The owner said for I could buy a 100,000 mile warranty. Is this true? How does it work?
private seller said he’d show me the letter, but I suspect it is to transfer to new owner.

I think what the owner is referring to is an extended warranty. There are a slew of companies out there that offer this. A quick google search would give you an idea of what one is. I doubt it is for $30 dollars though. When I purchased a car a year ago. I was offered a 90k mile extended warranty at a cost of $2000, which i purchased. The plan I purchased covered mechanical and electrical failures and had a deductible of $100. Lets say my transmission fails and I need to get it fixed. I would bring it to a mechanics shop and shell out the deductible of $100 and the rest would be paid by the company I got the warranty through.
does it sound to good to be true, you fill in the rest….
BTW, most cars have a 3 yr/ 36,000 mile (or higher) warranty from the factory. It looks like he’s trying to charge you for something that already comes with the car.
Why are you asking us at YA? We are not selling you the car.
Ask the seller (i.e., the person who is selling the car) what that means. It sounds like there is an extended warranty on the car that is transferable. If so, a $30 fee is a good deal for you.
You can’t buy a warranty for $30. The money is probably the fee to transfer his existing extended warranty to the new owner. It’s well worth the money.
But the TSX comes with a 4 year 50,000 mile factory warranty. If the car is under the mileage limits the factory warranty is still in effect and it if free.
It’s more like 3000, and it’s for 100K TOTAL MILES, not 100K miles in addition to what’s already on the car.
